Trade Mechanical For Body Work

Hey fellas. Anyone out there interested in building me a 1776? I would like a short block for now. Balanced crank...engle 100 cam, new bearings, rods, oil pump, machine work done, i've got some heads to use.  I can do some body work and paint in return???
Let me know what you think. I can send some pics of stuff I've done. 64 notch, 61 kombi, other non VW stuff.

Are you supplying all the parts for the 1776?

I have a '58 ghia requiring body work, including welding.

Hey Scratchy: I was just assuming that we would cover each others costs. The price for the crank, bearings, cam and pump, I have rods, and the machine work, works out to basically the same as paint and body work costs. We can bill each other at the end if you want to. Have you had experience in building this kind of thing?

I'd rather build the motor with all parts supplied.
I'll let someone else take you up on the offer.
Also, you'd have to move to Maple Ridge, as the Ghia is just a shell on sawhorses.

Hey Dan: Sounds good. your were gonna go dove blue right??? I am sure we can work it out. Keep your pics small as my internet is dial up. Kirin send me some pics too as I may be able to squeeze in your ride with my Autobody class. How does a guy ad photos to adds???

P.S. Scratchy if you ever decide to get the ghia done. Let me know also. Would love to give that some TLC. I have always had a thing for Ghias.

honestly: It really looks like a piece of cake. Gonna give it a try on our parts bus this spring. If it works, I'll let you know. How much does yours need? I'll give you the first prototype to show all the coast crew.

Do you have any '64-'67 front brake backing plates and drums??

oh.....and how do feel about attempting to tub the front of my bus???  if it's gonna have a narrowed beam, it's going to go crazy low..

I'm Slammedbus' bud up here in the Arm.  He tells me you have a set of discs.  Perhaps we can work a trade + for the backing plates...  I have a big project ahead of me with my '59 double cab and I have a sweet spot for the Porsche wheels.  Let me know what you think.

yeah, that sounds good.  you can take a look at the setup when jason has the van.  it's basicly a stock '67 bus spindle with beetle stubs and a bracket that will accept type 3 rotors and calipers.  the cool thing about them is if you want to run 4x100 import rims, all you need are the drilled rotors that we sell at California Imports.  or if you guys want to check them over...maybe you and jason can figure a way out to reproduce them.  i believe they were built by Franklin VW's back about 8 years or so ago. so the fact they're still rolling strong is a testament to his work for sure.
