My 57 Beetle
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:19:40 PM »
Hi
been on here for a while and bought an oval in feb 07 and never put it up here because i did not really start till a while ago. Anyways so this is my 57 oval, bought it out of maple ridge and took to the island. All the bodywork was done when i bought it. The pan was painted but i pulled the body off to do the brakes and to get some broken off bolts out of the heater channels. Now it is bolted down and i am about half way through wiring it. Plans are to have it done by mid march. I got a interior from sewfine and i am currently buying an engine. enough talk here are some pictures.

Matt

can someone explain how to post pics

hey matt, the way that works best for me is get a photo bucket account and host them from there. I think it's the bottom box that you copy and paste into your post and the pic comes up ................ magic B)

good luck with your oval, if I could only get some time to start on mine

For posting pics:

You need to host them somewhere. I use photobucket but there are several places. Once you have them online you copy the \"img\" link to your post.

yep that where it was used, seem to work so i thought i would use the same. just a question  to anyone but when you hook up the dual carbs and then it splits at the t and goes to both of them, does that t have to be in the middle or can it be to one side? what fuel pump do you recomend as well?

thanks

Mine is on top of the bracket where the throttle cable comes to.

yeah that copper stuff is the shit for there, you don't need much and don't torque it at first, just a snug, let it set up a couple hours and then torque on it.

Gary's right, just line up the \"T\" bracket directly behind the throttle cable tube in the fan shroud and lock the set screws.

Like I said before don't hesitate to gimme a shout if you need help with anything, I know that motor pretty well ;)

I believe k&n makes a decent high pressure filter, better than the HP1.

you could t in a oil temp sender in that line but better yet just drill and tap an 1/8\" hole in the top of your filter mount and stick it in there, less fittings to leak the better
