So my dear Sister-in-law Kim, has a 88ish Convertible Rabbit for sale for $7000, she has it listed in the buy and sell, and buysell.com. She received an email over the weekend that sounded to good to be true, some guy in Africa wanted to buy it. He has a business partner in the states that owes him money and the buyer was going to have him send a cheque to Kim in the amount of $12000. Kim was to take it to her bank and after it cleared, she was to send him the car and the remaining $5000. She called us all excited cause now she can finance her travels. Lucky for her, I already knew about this kind of scam and warned her about it. You can read all about it here...

I get those emails about once a week for my '68. Be careful there are many different versions out there.

when I was 13, a guy scamed me with a motor.  but I only paid $800 for it.

it was apparently a 2180cc, with 44 IDF's, merged header, and 041 heads.

I paid $800 for it, but it turned out to be a messed up 1835, the heads were still alright, the header was fine, but the carbs were shot.  I was only 13 at the time, so I didn't think about measuring the stroke or anything.

sorta sucks.  not quite the same scam, but I got ripped off and hated it.  the guy lived in richmond and apparently after he sold me the motor he changed his number and moved to kelowna.
