not at you josh, or really anyone in particular.  i put this thread up to get some help in getting icbc to pay me what the car is worth, everyone seems to think 6200 and the car is peachy. well they didnt offer that to me, they offered me 6200 PERIOD. so if i want the car on top of the 6200 i need to show the car is worth more. ive done this before i can get them to offer higher but this time there arent enough adds on samba to work with so i need local people to do my a favor, not jump at me becasue just maybe id like to get enough money for my car to allow me to keep going with aircooled cars, something that isnt going to happen if i dont get enough money for the beetle becasue im a full time student and my schooling costs me 15 000 every year, not alot of left over cash for a beetle above what i already have.

also for the getting the car back thing, i have no where to store a wrecked car and i leave for calgary in exactly 4 days, makes parting a car out more than a little difficult.

everyone is trying to help, when you post in a public forum your going to get a variety of opinions, if you want to flip people off then your likely to get nothing.

You should get more, another good way to argue your case with ICBC is, when they try to low ball you, tell them \"alright, in that case just fix it\"

Which ofcourse they will not want to do.

Some people in this thread are not seeing that you are the victim, a drunk driver ran YOU off the road, wrecked YOUR car. If you were street racing, or driving like an idiot, drunk or high, then sure i could see this being a tough case. But its not a tough case.

Your an idiot. This has no validity at all. The value of the car does not change because a drunk driver hit him, other than it no longer has value other than scrap metal.

maybe i shouldnt have been so harsh but i really dont have alot of patience right now due to my injuries and stuff, two to three fitful hours of sleep a night doesn't make the most tolerant person i guess. and i really dont have patience for people making me out to be a bad guy for trying to get enough money to replace my car that a drunk driver totaled.

people dont want to help me get another beetle fine thats them with their opinion, ive got three offers of help from people here which i appreciate immensely and hope ill get a few more from others since people helping each other out is what i always liked best about the aircooled community.

as for not needing help the super beetle that i had last was a different type of car, its value was in the modifications (obviously since who wants a super beetle?) where as this one has its value in the vintage parts and the engine.

Dude from what I read nobody what making you out to be a bad guy unless I missed the post that insulted you.
You invited people to comment on their perception of what the car was worth with your first post.

take or leave comments on here, if you don't like them too bad, don't have a freaker and tell them to fuck off.

from what I can tell you rely on places like these (as do I) for much info and support towards this hobby and show a little respect.

There is a wealth of valuable knowledge in this small circle of very talented people, don't scew it up just because you're tired.

I'm kinda bored, otherwise I wouldnt bother. I can hate ICBC as much as the next guy.

The thing that most people dont understand is that it does not matter what you paid for the car. The car could have been a gift, an inheritance, you could have bought the beelte in 1980 for $300 dollers, it does not matter.

Im beginning to think everything you type, or think, or speak is complete rubbish. Take a minute and read what you posted.

If the car WAS a gift, or it WAS inherited, or it WAS purchased in 1980 for $300, then the cost of it (to the person in question) would not be relavent. I agree.

But it wasnt any of those things, or anything remotely similar, the car was purchased two months ago for $5000. Fair market value. You dont understand, I think everyone else does

My ears are ringing with this language. Shouldn't this be moved to the E-thug forum.  B)

Go easy on the guy. It seems like he's got a lot on his plate right now and probably wanted to get this sorted before he left for Calgary. I'm sure the heckling from the peanut gallery isn't making it any easier. Some people on this forum are pretty quick to get there backs up and seem to take offence to everything. I don't know the guy but it sounds like he's a little frustrated. We've all been there. In the end it is really none of our business and will not affect anyones lives other that his. Let it be. My 2 cents.

In this case, the drunk has no insurance.  ICBC will attempt to recover all costs from the claim from the drunk.  If successful, ICBC is out nothing.  Maybe you can use that as an argument.

Having not ever seen the car, it is hard to give it a value.  However, someone said it was a rusty car.  $6200 for a rotten car is generous, IMO.

take the 6200, and then buy the vehicle back at the scrap value..... usually under a grand, it cant ever be fixed but you can take all the parts off of it and build another..... or part it out and get a few more grand out of it.....
