I Have Terrible Luck With Beetles
« on: August 04, 2007, 09:21:52 PM »
ok guy, another beetle down for me, but this one due to a drunk driver.

i got hit, and thrown across both lanes of the road and pushed another parked car 10 feet sideways. nothing is broken but might have a cracked rib and im sure as hell going to be sore. oh and for the record when your face hits windshield it is not comfy.

anyways im going to need your guys help with this claim, anyone that runs a resto shop could then send me their number so i can get you guys to sign that the vintage parts on my car are worth big money. geoff i could use you as well for this.

pictures comming

#$%^$%&@ man, I hope you are ok. Give it a couple of weeks before you say anything.

I will send you a pm.

If you have a lawyer, get all your ducks in line and keep a diary describing everything since the accident. Witnesses are really important.

oh man!!

amish, i'm am happy to hear that you are allright. that is the most important thing right now...your health and a complete recovery.

as for the car, try rudy feeg auto repair for the claim. also, maybe you & josh can compile a stack of receipts for parts used on the car aswell as an estimate as to how much time has been spent building, servicing & repairing it.

like chris & others have said, get a good lawyer and get the drunk douchbeg that hit you to pay big time.

good luck & let me know if i can do anything for you.

OMG dude, glad to hear you are feeling okay.  I was imagining worse than what I see in the photos.  Documentation is gonna be your friend.  Powertrain looks to be unaffected.  That's a good thing.  Take care of yourself first... it's only a car and can be replaced.

WOW DUDE !!! glad you are OK ...that pic is brutal...hope you get a sympathetic adjuster...I wish I could hook you up with my last adjuster ...he was really cool ( and liked VWs ) , but I dont think you can do that.
like everyone says document everything ...in 6 months a lot of details will escape you and then all they have to reference your claim against...and no one will remember your pain except you...thickness of claim file = $$
Just my2 cents
again , glad you are OK!!

PS... pain and suffering claims don't cost you anything until you  collect money from ICBC.then the lawyer takes his cut so it's in his interest to get you lots of $$

well for starters there was probably over 2 grand easy into re-doing all the chrome ie; oe bumpers, mirrors, gas cap, turnsignals, headlight rings on and on. powder coaterd gas tank, the beam I did for you, the roof rack was pretty mint, that' gotta be worth a few hun, the custom gauges and gauge pod.

I don't have reciepts for any of that stuff, cause it was all under the ol' table.... sorry.

what's the plan? try and get the car back with some cash to try and salvage some stuff or just a straight pay-out?

see what the pay out offer is, and see what the buy back would be.  if i get a good pay out and a good buy back price ill just do that and start transplanting/stripping. the engine is a good chunk of change to remake so might make a buyback worth it.  only issue is i dont have storage for all the stripped pieces so id have to have already found a beetle to put it into.  id prefer to transplant all the stuff though, but lack of storage area might make for other plans

as for my health im fucking sore, but its not to bad as long as i dont move  . tuesday i go for a of ton x-rays and ill probably stop by a lawyer since i have no idea how to deal with a pain and suffering claim.

Any chance that you would be able to sue the drunk driver?

Maybe enough to buy you a split (Third times a charm :P)

thats gonna be the pain and suffering claim, but i guess im suing icbc who then holds the drunk guys licence ransom for the money they pay me. nto sure how it all works exactly so thats why im gonna do one of those free 30 min consults with a lawyer.

i dont think im gonna get enough for a split though :( nothing is broken (well nothing major, x-rays will show for sure) so its not gonna be something like a 50 000 settlement

maybe darren will give me a sympathy deal on his split

Just when you were starting to have fun with it too, I thought it was really cool that you were out at the track with the old beast.

Get the thing back, strip it sell off a couple things and stick the motor in a corner of your old man's garage/ basement whatever, just make it see anouther day

I hope you aren't suggesting the car can be fixed?

The car is a gonner.  The only thing left is to determine it's value.
