While I was in canada a week ago (between july 13 to th 16th) after I drove a rental car from santa maria, Ca to Kelowna , Bc and picking up my 56 canadian std oval and heading home on a summer journey with my wife and twin 11 years .. I happen upon some really kool folks along the way, who were VW folks. it was nice to be back near home not only because i missed the tree, the homes and kind people. I met along of good folks, alot of thumbs up, and if between kelowna to vancouver ..... the old route over the top, or vancouver to the ferries to victoria, and while in victoria... all the thumbs up, and smile and comments on the oval (aka) \"Bullet\" thanks. you made the time spend back home for me very nice, but you backed up what I have always told my wife and kids who was visiting canada for the first time. that canadian people are warm and out going, funny and kind... you people proved my point.. and are aces in my books.. cheers dave grimmitt (aka)kool1

hey dave....happy to hear that you're trip was a success and that you were treated well by all the canadians that you met. i guess that's why i was put on house arrest between the 13th & 16th....the people dont want a freak like me tarnishing our clean reputation. B)

btw, imho it takes a big set to drive a newly purchased 50 year old car from kelowna to california all loaded down with the family and the luggage. good for you & your family for making the trek. it sounds like it was a great adventure.

thanks, sorry to hear about your mishap.. wasn't my doing.. no big balls, just faith .. and heck whats the very worse thing that could had happened, I'm 50 ..like whats going to happen to me that hasn't eh? and how else R kids going to learn about the magic in a road trip, not with todays plastic, over powered, selfdriving over priced cars, sure if I need to be there fast 80 with my eyes closed is good, but people forget whats out there, whats in between the signs and trees  at 55, they forget the peace signs, and the gifts that seeing our cars bring back to others..if we're vw folks, we're everywhere, and if true, we have no reason to fear cause if we're vw folks.. we take care of our own..grab the keys and hit the highways folks, adventure awaits

Kool1. You've got a kool attitude. Really what's the worst. You have to get the car towed and fixed. Kids are old enough to know what's going on and remember and enjoy such adventures. They are going to go back to school and tell there friends they went to Canada where the people are nice but say \"EH\" a lot and drove home in a 50 year old beetle. Sounds liks a great trip. The two shots of the family and the Oval in front of the Empress and parliment buildings are A-1.

Brodie, thanks.. I do worry about thangs, but really.. if you have a girl friend and she can't love ya on the road, and see why you dig your air cold, when will she ?, which means when you going hit the road, same for wifes, if you got the ramble urge , they think its a two day, and a 5 star hotel.. they got to want ya and tune into your vibe, your groove or other wise. you hearing areosmith or the beachboys calling, and they hear salena..  take two change of clothes , hit laundrymats.. and when you get back to the things we all take for granite..you'll find your self not needing those things, hense you have less worry and more change in your pockets and you do even more things.
here are some other shots, sorry my vancouver shots were in another camera, I was bummed out at the wind damage stanley park got jit with, when i was a kid, I'd look up and you couldn't see the sky.
also sorry, alot of pictures and they are last (on first page) to the first starting in kelowna on the last page.. enjoy.. learn, tell your vw guru to adjust you valves, change your oil 20-50 cast, air your tires and just go where your pointed or never been before, you folks have great country around ya, sure some bigh hills, but some kick ass down hills, and v-dubs lov da downhills...
