ok broke down and bought one.
i see there is wiring for a light and a grd/+ for the sender.
how does the uint power up,havent looked too close but the power/grd seam to be for a bulb only.
what am i missin

Nope , thats it. Guess it's a thermocouple type thing.  You should have a two wire harness to run direct from sender to gage which I think your not supposed to cut or modify. No power , Least thats how mine was.

i thought that what was going on.
i did warm the ring up with the hot air gun earlier and it did not seam to move.
most likely a bit slower responce
