Safe Summer
« on: July 05, 2007, 06:51:37 PM »
 Hey guys just want to wish you all a safe summer and remeber to be careful . My wife had the unfortunate task of having to use her C.P.R. today on a boy who was drowning and unconcious  he made it to the hospital and condition is unknown . I also took first-aid years ago and it's time
to brush up again . As we are out with family and friends lets stay safe and if the oppurtunity arises help out were we can . Being that as car people we are on the road a lot
and may have the likely hood of coming across something it is nice to be prepared .I'm to far away but with James safety background a first aid course for t he airspeed crew might be a good
weekend get together with the bonus of learning
some important skills  :) .Anyways justa thought stay safe and have a great summer.
Martin

I'd be happy to set up Level 1 with AED cert courses for people if we have enough interest. I no longer hold my teaching cert as I don't get a chance to teach enough with my job but know one of the best in the business and he would work for cash.

If 10-15 people want to do this post here and let me know.

I agree with Marty, I have seen and responded to alot of incidents in my travels, haven't lost anyone yet and I am sure it's due to training and experience. I think everyone should have at least a basic first aid knowledge; you owe your friends and family that and it only takes 8 hours to get a LvL 1 endorsement.

I am in and out of town alot of the next month or two so let me know!

wicked idea. i'm in if classes/training are held on weekends.
Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

Hopefully everyone has a trained first aid person in there immediate workplace, at Telus everyone has been trained in some level of first aid.

Its worth the investment even if you never have to use it on someone, you'd be amazed at how often you will have to practise it on yourself.

I haved been trained somewhat a good 30-40 time in my life. My biggest accomplisment was being able to use my training on two occations. once was a diving student whom passed out after hiper-ventilating and the second time it was a victim of a swarning by a group of teen agers. Have no idea of their names or where they are now but they lived.  It may not matter to them but when I did it, I felt like the greatest.

I think most of the time it is about usung the so called common sense, most accidents do not need to happen.
