Just Scored A Ghia
« on: June 13, 2007, 04:14:05 PM »
I was talking with my aunt on Saturday. She mentioned that someone asked her if her old Ghia (1970) was for sale (it's been sitting for 2 years under a carport). She told the guy that it didn't run due to an electrical issue but said she would take $1000 for it. The guy said he would get back to her and never did. I told her that I would like to see it (hadn't seen it in 3 years). Stopped by last night and looked it over. It has a few rust spots and needs some interior work but the engine \"was\" strong when the electrical issue started and they parked it. My aunts husband used to do all the work on the car until he had a major stroke and now can barely make 3 words come out at a time. They had talked about me buying it before I got there and decided to give me a family discount.

$600

I am hoping to pick it up on the Friday after work  :P

I'll post some pics as soon as I get it.

sounds awesome, i know where there are a couple ghias sitting around town, 1 much like the one you described under a car port but its been there as long as i can remember. and the second is sitting in west van with some original Empi wheels on it, wrecked front end.

Good luck, ghias are beautiful cars.

congrats on the great score blarneyman.

sorry to hear about your uncle (aunts husband). maybe putting it back on the road can be sort of a tribute to him and the work he use to do on it.

I'd say you did pretty well.  Shouldn't take much to get it back on the road.
