Fuel Problem
« on: June 10, 2007, 07:11:11 AM »
Hi,today on the way to work my bug seemed like it wasn't getting any gas,i was doing about 70 kms and all of a sudden it began to loose power the more i stepped on the gas ,the slower it went, jumping and sputtering, until it finnaly stalled.i replaced the inline filter last month.could it be the electric fuel pump? it seems to make a clicking sound
thanks

Could be ignition as well, are you running stock points etc...

what type of fuel pump do you have and where is it in your car?

Is there gas in your gas filter going into your carbs(s)?

If not check your filter out of your gas tank (a mall cone shape screen.) Sometimes you get bad gas and it gets plugged.

There's a filter in the spigot of the fuel tank(at the bottom) that gets forgotten about. It may be clogged with tank crud....

There are two types and you probably have the old one. It should be about 1\" long in funnel ( V ) shape.

This is what the new ones look like:
