well i need to raise the rear end up(it was lowered aprox 2\"), its just the bare frame rigth now. i have never attempted this before so is there any tips i should follow and is the spring plate tool nessasary?(anyone want to lend me theres?) so if someone would like to come help me i will provide beer and pizza that would be awsome.

also i am thninking about installing adjsuters to rais the car in the front beam as well so if you can do that as well that be awsome.

Going back to stock without the car completely intact will be impossible without the spring plate tool (or something fabricated). Trying to lift the arms back onto the lower stops will just lift the car off the ground.

I might be willing to help if I wouldn't have put my back out  :(

well i jsut looked up cip one and the tool is sold out. guess i will have to wait........

you dont need the tool. i did mine on the pan without the body on. what you will need to do is wrap a chain around the jack and over the shock tower. or bolt the chain to the top shock mount hole.
read up on this, its for a swingaxle but irs is pretty much the same way.

yeah i read that artical, but isnt there alot of tension where the spring plates bolt to the torsion arms? i thought the tool allowed you to lower them down slowley without having alot of spring tension all at once. i dunno i guess i am just confused.

ok never mind i re-read the artical it all makes sence now, i will try this on the weekend.

the first time i did it i was a bit nervous, but all you have to do is lower the jack slowly and pry the plate over the bottom stop at the same time. lower the jack slowly and its no problem.

yeah as i checked it out on the car it is seems pretty straight forward. the only thing i will have to figure out is hhow many degrees i need to adjust them. i think a 9 degree adjustment will bring the car back to stock position.

this method works well with racheting tie-downs too.



put the hooks of the tie-downs on the front axle of the floor jack and put the strap over the upper shock mount, rachet tight and slowly raise/lower jack.

yeah that was exactly what i was gogin to use ratcheting straps.
