I got a use IRS trany. I believe that it may be 4:12. I am looking for information as to whether I need another swing axle trany to have a rebuild for my 66.
How do I know if it is 4:12 and how do I identify the year of the trany?

if its a dual sidecover tranny it can be converted to swingaxle, and that means it its roughly 68-72 (i think)
and if its a single sidecover tranny its a 73 and later, it cannot be changed to swingaxle...
