well, i pretty much decided that attending the vw classic festivities this year is not in the cards for me....so i was wondering how those of us that are not going could keep busy while the classic attendees enjoy the disgusting california heat and horrible selection of acvw's.... ;)

here are a few ideas...

friday june 8th - friday day test & tune and/or friday night street legals @ mission raceway

saturday june 9th - meet at wally's burgers in burnaby around 4-ish and then cruise to spanish banks for some lawn care (relaxing/bbq/swimming/sports/sunset)

just tossing this out there to see if anyone is interested.  please feel free to reply and add your own ideas and feedback. B)

sounds pretty cool silas, the cruise you put togather last year to spanish banks was great! I rode with Cheech.I'd love to see that happen again,i'd bring the baja this time :rockon:  :rockon:

I'll have to check with my secretary (wife) on the dates, but it sounds like fun. I have to do some repairs on the bug (back brakes are dragging and can't back them off and 2 lug bolts are siezed ]:( )

I will see if I can find a way to do some small stuff (brakes adjustment, and maybe smaller tires for front.) Aside from that. I need to invite management and hopefully we are able to make it

good idea...but too much work and too much of a headache, imho.

the westcoast showdown is 2 weeks after that so i dont want to take anything away from that show...i want to keep this as simple as possible and was thinking more about a very casual cruise/hang-out session to kill some time.

How about a scenic cruise to historic fort langley? Lots of great photo ops and lots of neat little stores.

fort langley is cool. is there a large park or beach there where we could park a bunch of cars and set up camp for a couple hours?

i'm still partial to spanish banks just because of the scenery ;), but again, anything is possible.

We could go to Peckers point.....be like high school all over again. I'll bring the pallets for the bon fire.

Hey Silas I'm in... and I posted on the Victoria site...maybe get some Islanders out.
I'm not opposed to having a bit of a bbq at my place ...it's close to Spanish Banks and we have 8 acres right on the river...literally on the river. The Sunsets are awesome...if you're interested Let Me Know.

I would love to make the effort and come down, with work and everything else, I dont think it will happen , but I could maybe meet some of you guys at chilliwack, is that about half way????
I would like to put some faces to names and drool over some of the VW that you have.
I will come up with some dates and we will go from there. :D

chilliwack is close, but imho, it would be well worth your while to make time to come down and be a part of the westcoast showdown....

If you are available that weekend BugManiac I may even find room in my rig to haul yer ass down there and back.  I'm on the fence right now myself whether I can make it or not.  It's hinging on getting the bus on the road and some miles on it before hand.
