Which Rear Brakes Do I Have?
« on: April 16, 2007, 05:48:39 PM »
I need to replace one of the rear brake cylinders on my 57, but don't know if they're the original backing plates or not, what's the difference?. CIP lists the up to 57 for $45 and the 58 on for like $15. I don't want to order the wrong one.  how can a wheel cyl differ that much in price, I don't get it.

Maybe ask the guy that built the car?

He could have put type3 backing plates on?

We would not know.

that's exactly the info I was after, mine have one bolt so that makes them later, good. I already thought of the type 3 swap, but I compared the drum diameter to my 63 and they were the same. wait a sec, or were the type 3's wider shoe?

that's why I love this forum, thanks all for the help :D

type 3 are a wider shoe
and bigger diameter.

measure the bore, and then you will know what T1 cylinders you have.
