I'm looking for a T1 engine that is running a serpentine belt to see if our timing pointer will fit. Thanks.

Serpentine belts work well. The odd thing is that it works so well that it will never slip. At least when a V belt slips a tad under high rpms, that means the cooling fan is slowing down. This would be a good thing so that theres a reduction in the chance of grenading a cooling fan.

If the serp system removes the belt quickly its a bonus for track applications. You can pull the belt off quickly.

Many prefer a \"cal look\" which doesn't sway away from the \"look\". I see nothing wrong with that system and if you choose to go that route its a slick setup.

Anything better than stock should get a fully welded and balanced fan in my opinion.

For higher performance setups you should be running a tig welded fan anyways. Stick wit OE german orignals or mexican oe VW welded ones that are balanced. Bugpack and scat welded fans are known to grenade or partially come apart and distort.

Gene Berg sells a good welded fan and so does jake raby at massivetype4.

ive heard (cant say ive experienced) bad things about running the serpentine belts on hi po motors, seems the motors rev too quickly and twist the fans until they break.... ive heard about it with even good berg fans.
