The One That You Passed Up Or The One You Scored?
« on: March 26, 2007, 03:44:18 PM »
This thread is inspired by the 1966 ghia found in a barn thread.

Post stories about cars that you got lucky and found or cars that you missed out on and you kick yourself for not buying.

Ill start : these are a few that i remember.

1: One of the first vws that i ever wanted to buy was a 1959 single cab, dove blue, all original with your average rust on the bottom inches, but it was complete from the bullets, bumpers, taillights, gates, everything. This was in about 1995, it was parked in burnaby behind a fence with a forsale sign $900, but my dad wouldnt let me buy it.

2: I found a type 34 Ghia at this French auto shop in burnaby, i dont know how the guy got it, but it was beat up, though still had tons of parts left on it and he wanted $200 for it, but again my dad wouldnt let me buy it, this was around 1998.

3: I off the scores must have been the 1955/6 2 fold ragtop car that i got for free. The lady renting the house said someone had left it a long time ago and if i can dig it out of the bushes i can have it, so stephan and i cut school, and chopped all the bushes out, brought the trailer and took her home. A couple hours and sawzall later we had a nice ragtop clip for the 1958 resto i was building. I threw most of the rest away, it was pretty much just a rusting shell, i gave Nivag the uncut dash.

There are a ton of others and ill post them once i remember them.
