Child Of The 80's ?
« on: February 26, 2007, 01:32:39 AM »
You're an 80's child if...

You had a crush on one of the New Kids on the Block members.

You wanted to be on Star Search. (Come on, we all did)

You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off.

You wore a banana clip or one of those slap on wrist bands at some point during your youth.

You wore French rolls on the bottom of your splatter painted jeans.

You had slouch socks, and puff painted your own shirt at least once.

You owned a doll with 'Xavier Roberts' signed on it's butt.

You know the profound meaning of ''Wax on, Wax off.''

You can name at least half of the members of the elite ''Brat Pack.''

You can remember watching Full House and Saved by the Bell for endless hours!!!!!!

You have seen at least 10 episodes of Fraggle Rock.

You know that another name for a keyboard is a ''Synthesizer.''

You hold a special place in your heart for ''Back to the Future.''

You know where to go if you ''Wanna go where everybody knows your name.''

You thought Molly Ringwald was REALLY cool. (Was there an 80's movie she WASN'T in?)

You know what ''Sike'' means.

You fell victim to 80's fashion: big hair, crimped, combed over to the side, and you wore spandex pants

You wanted to be a Goonie - (hey u guyz!!)

You owned an extensive collection of Cabbage Patch Kids and trolls.

You actually saw Ted Danson as the MacDaddy he played ''Sam'' to be.

You ever wore fluorescent -neon if you will clothing...(or nail polish)

You could break dance, or wished you could. (I said hip hop....)

You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game system. (Remember Pong)

You know all the words to ''Ice Ice Baby''.

You remember MC hammer well.

You can still sing the rap to \"Fresh Prince of Bel Air\"

You own any cassettes.

You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living on the moon.

You remember and/or own any of the CareBear Glass collection from PizzaHut.

Poltergeist freaked you out.

You carried your lunch to school in a Gremlins or an ET lunchbox.

You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf.

You wanted to communicate with some being named Cinergy.

You wanted to have an alien like Alf living in your house.

You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish.

You wore tights under shorts and felt stylish.

You ever had a Swatch Watch.

You actually spent countless hours trying to perfect the care-bear stare.

You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny.

You had Wonder Woman or Superman underwear.

You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween.

You Believed that ''By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power''

You thought that Transformers were more than meets the eye.

Partying ''like it's 1999'' seemed SO far away!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can identify with at least half of this list then you, my friend, are a ''Child of the 80's.''

Is it wrong that I bought an Alf dvd the other day to corrupt my children?  ;)

For me it was Motley Crue's Theater Of Pain tour, 1985. Backed up by Autograph (remember \"Turn Up the Radio\"?).

Whats wrong with tight undershorts?  My first concert was ZZ top with the Headpins. I think it was the eliminator album. I really hate to admit this, but my first wife surprised me one day with tickets to go see MC Hammer in Penticton. Thats one of the reasons she is my ex wife.  ;)

Ya, I can still remember what Darby Mills was wearing on stage that day.  When I worked at VWspecialties in Langley, the guy that built the engines there (Grant K.) said that Darby Mills was his aunt. Since this is a VW forum, I just thought I would throw that in there. ;)

I remember getting a Wayne Gretzky lunchbox with matching thermos, and an E.T. \"read along with the cassette\" book and tape for my 5th birthday in '83. What will we think when we're REALLY old, and look back on the 2000's?

you guys are hardcore.

my first concert was roots round-up....or was it the shuffle demons....or me,mom & morgentaler....one of those bands.

i didnt have cable so i missed saved by the bell & full house (shucks) but i am guilty of watching an episode or 2 of fraggle rock & fresh prince (allthough the reception from the rabbit ears would often cut the episode short).

i was listening to the clash and the police, not nkotb or mc hammer or vanilla ice. i did have wierd al yankovichs \"in 3-d\" on vinyl, tho.

karate kid & back to the future are classics. but only the originals. the sequels sucked ass.

i loved my cabbage pat.....i mean transformers.

we couldnt afford pizza hut...so we ate at pizza shack. they had free water.

i remember one halloween every boy dressed up as superman and every girl dressed up like a hooker. i'm not shittin you. what the hell was that all about?

i remember seeing et in the theatre and almost shitting my pants as elliot walked across the back yard toward the glowing shed where et was hiding.

i still own cassettes and i still want to be a goonie. is that a bad thing?

Wow being so far apart you think it would be so different, but it's similar in alot of ways. Movies ya the usual ones E.T., Back To The Future, Star Wars.
We never had cable in the U.K. the first VHS movie I watched was Rocky at my buddys house, wow it was great.
Halloween was a non starter in the U.K.
Rock bands were never my thing, ya kinda have to live here to understand the music scene, it's great but bad all at the same time.
I was kinda geeky so the clothes passed me by
I felt free to do what ever I wanted to do, out at dawn back at sunset, PRICELESS. :D
