VW sealing compound VW part# AMV 188 001 02 (this stuff works awesome, but is expensive)

works all the time and can be bought from any auto parts store for cheap.

Yes theres anerobic sealant but I think it costs alot more and not easily found on most auto parts store shelves.

One word of advice with the permatex is to let it set up, don't put it together when it is still wet, it does take some time (up to 15 minutes maybe longer if applied to thick) to set up.
