81 Diesel, I pull the choke cable, it moves the lever on the injection pump, but nothing changes. It always starts but runs rough untill it warms up a little (2min).
Ideas?

Bad glow plugs?

Not DVKK but it's either glow plugs or a leak in something that's letting some air in and it takes 2 min. for the air to purge itself.

I second this. There's not really anything that can go wrong with the rack advance system. Also, check for leaks in your injector pump. The new ULSD (ultra low sulphur diesel) is causing leaks. I just had to replace the seals on my injector pump, as it was leaking from the rack advance lever shaft.

Check your base timing of the pump. If it's so far out, the manual advance will do very little to help.

If it's that far out, it won't run either, even when warmed up.
