will a rear brake cylinder from a 68 type 1 work as the front Is there any differance ?? blew a front and have 2 nearly new backs. They look about the same the old front looks a little fatter

It will fit, it will work, but don't do it. Rear cylinders are 17mm. Front std Beetle cylinders are 19mm. The front must be larger than the rear to have the correct bias.
