how rare is a 71 station wagon  and how hard is the fuel injection system to work on or find someone who knows how to work on them

my first car was a '71 TIII wagen.  I ditched the fuel injection for carburation, because aside from throwing injectors and sensors at it, there's realy nothing you can do for the brain to fix it.

The brain is NEVER bad.

The FI is like any other complicated assembly on the car.  You just have to find the right person who knows how to work on it.  I'm sure Ed at the Bug shop knows his way around T3 FI.  Hans and Gary M-B will too.  Duane at Duane's Autohaus can keep you going too.

pretty sure its happened once or twice in the past.

like I said, most issues can be sourced back to a faulty sensor, bad ground, or missing bits  :lol:

in some cases, you may have a hard time finding these bits.

if your absolutly set on keeping the car 100% original, by all means, have someone go over it for you.  Or save a head ache at the end of the day and convert it.  Esspecialy sinse the price of a fuel pump for one of these is equal to the cost of a carb kit  ;)

My grandmother had a squareback in the early 70's when it was nearly new, and according to my Dad who worked on it, the stock FI was always needing some kind of TLC.
