1964 Beetle - Dvkk Car
« on: January 02, 2007, 11:43:14 PM »
Hey,

I came across a few old photos of the DVKK cars I have from about 5 years back.  I remember a silver 1964 beetle with a 2110, 48 IDA's, DVKK car that was featured in hot vw's.  I believe (correct me if I am wrong) the owner's name is Scott Stackhouse.  I remember last seeing the car at the GCVWS a few years back with black/yellow cali plates on it and a temp permit in the window.

What Hot VW's issue was this car featured in again?  Is the car still around or ...?

.... to the okanogan.....
You an 'merican now?   Okanagan is the Canadian spelling.

Scott moved up to Pentiction then to Kelowna and took the car with him.  He works in a high school, and he drives the car to work a few times each year.  He is constantly challenged to races, but if he was caught that'd be the end of his job, so he always declines.  However, once in a while he'll take a student out for a mild burn, just to keep the word out there that his car is not to be messed with.

IIRC, it runs mid 13s with STOCK gears.

Silas,

Thanks, I'll check that!

Bruce,

I'm looking to build a similar engine.

I was wondering where that car went.  I'm glad to hear that it is still running around

Ha! You fell into my trap!

Scott's engine makes really good power.  It has some really old Roger Crawford 40x35 heads.

Engle 125 cam, 8.25:1 compression, 009 distributor, IDA's, 40x35.5 heads.

Alan, yes, 4.37 R&P, super diff, and recapped Firestone tires in the rear.

I thought they were Fumio heads - but I could be wrong. That mid 13 was run with worn out guides as well.

Yeah, I guess if that's what Scott put in the mag they must be Crawford heads. I think he got them from Camdog but my memory has been suffering lately. Speaking of memory, does anybody know what's happening with the Scott's old oval? Larry and I were talking about it the other day.

I asked Kris about the oval 2 summers ago.  He hadn't touched it and it was still in pieces.

Hi Rob,

Scott did buy those heads from me. I got them from Roger, in the early 1980's. I sold Scott the pair of heads, two sets of manifolds (IDF & IDA), and a pair of 44IDF carbs. Since he already had the IDA manifolds, it was easy to change carbs, later on.

Thanks Cam,

I guess I'm starting to loose it a little, I was hoping that would only start after Leni was out of high school - not just in the high chair.

ps. Did you get my email about the IDA pieces?

Scott Steakbus still has the 64 and it looks perfect. Kris has been working on the oval, we chatted about it yesterday. Its going to the media blasters soon, then for more body/paint.
