Anyone got one of these (or similar) on any vehicle? I think the theory is excellent, but I still think hot water on a freezing screen is bad news.

Any opinions?

i usually just urinate on my frozen windshield. works like a charm...although passers-by often point and laugh at the wierdo (but i'm used to that).

since water boils at 100c and that crappy tire doodad heats the water to 60c, i dont think it would damage a cold window. not sure how well it would work because i havent tried one, but i'm sure it appeals to some people.

of course, with an acvw, most of the frost on the windshield is inside the car, so we still need a fix for that. (urine doesnt work...i've tried

)

my thoughts on crappy tire gadgets aside, i don't see that as being problematic -- especially since you're in West Van. if you were dealing with the hella cold winters of the B.C. Interior, i wouldn't recommend it. but with Lower Rainland temps, i can't see the windshield cracking because the fluid's a little warm. if we do get a cold snap, you might want a backup -- which kinda defeats the purpose, really...

and like silas said, it still doesn't take care of interior frost which is more of a bitch than anything else.

many new cars equipped with a cold weather package have heated washer nozzles. I know my Golf does.
