Transmission Rebuild - Where
« on: November 22, 2006, 07:11:28 AM »
Both the transaxle and the motor (1600DP) from my '67 Beetle need to be rebuilt. I am thinking of doing the motor myself but understand that rebuilding a trans is rather diificult. I am unaware of any local area (Greater Vancouver BC) shops. Yes, would someone please tell me \"where to go\". I am also looking for a place that rents time for blasting parts as well as a shop that will powder coat.  Thanks.

Silas, do you have a contact number/email for Bruce Tweddle and Terry Hoogstins? What is the ASF?

Russ - I am happy to do business in the Langley/Port Kells area. Let me know your contact numbers and location. Thanks G-Dog and el_flechador for recommending Russ too.

as for terry hoogstins, i'm not sure how to get ahold of him. maybe someone else will know.

i misread your first post and missed the point that you also needed powdercoating. i also would like to recommend russ to do the work. he hasnt powdercoated anything for me...yet...but he has been extremely helpfull in answering all my questions and as you can see he comes highly recommended.

good luck. B)

I am looking to speak with Bruce as well. My name is David Sanderson and I read here that you rebuild VW transmissions. I have a T3 swing axle tranny that I want to use in my T3 project (http://www3.telus.net/SUDAMA) but I know little about it (the tranny that is). I am looking for someone to go over it, replace what ever needs replacing and restoring it to \"like new\". I would like to speak with you about this. My e-mail address is porschedave@rennlist.net or djsanderson@telus.net and my phone is 604-255-4935. I look forward to speaking with you. Thanks. Dave
