What A Great Weekend!
« on: August 20, 2006, 10:39:36 PM »
Just a Huge thanks to all of you who work so hard to put on
a weekend of fun like this.  99% of us just show up and enjoy
but a few have spent so much time planning, preparing , setting up,
organizing , cooking , cleaning up etc. etc. etc. and don't really
get a chance to enjoy the weekend themselves like we do.
I could never name all of you but you know who you are.
Many Thanks to all of you!!

And after all their effort, I could only take part of some due to previous commitments. I look forward to next year.

Thank to all whom made it happen.

Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

Yes, another great weekend at the Great Canadian. Many thanks to all who put it together and to those that came to support it.

Now If I could just get the border issues resolved so more of my fellow Americans would venture north to a great weekend of fun.

And somehow compress time so the return home wouldn't take so dang long. But last night was the exception with Danni's 6v generator going on vacation...............

For me personally, it's a great opportunity to talk to people I haven't seen in a while. All the old local VW people come out for this event,  I like to chat when we have some free time.

But I apologize for not being very sociable during the ballot counting. It's a mind numbing task, and we just wanted to get through it, as quickly as possible.  (BTW, Darren D, Thanks for letting us use your laptop. It really sped things up.)

Thanks to all who came to participate, or spectate. It's the fans that make this event lots of fun.

Wish I could have made it! I was in Langley taking pictures of dogs all morning. By the time I was able to head that way the traffic was backed up to 200th on Hwy 1 due to a wreck in Coquitlam. Next time

As out of towners, we had fun and met lots of interesting people.
I learned a lot about my carb choices (thanks to Bruce and Alan U) and motors in general.
I got to drive Freddies fresh 2332 on Saturday, after pushing it around mission Friday night

We got to do some wrenching on Amanda's beetle in the hot sun at the Dennys after breakfast/lunch after she blew out a hard line on the brakes as she drove into the parking lot
The BBQ was a nice place to casually check out the rides and chat, thanks for that Shane and the DGLVK boys.
The only thing missing was Dorinda's 73' super, she felt there wasn't enough Supers out for the show  ^_^ and she was really missing it on the twisties between Uclulet and Nanaimo

Thanks to all who were so nice during our visit, and Moni for getting all of us to the Hotel safe Friday night.

A swim in the pool at the hotel would have been my choice for a hot Saturday afternoon...

I think I'll be with ya there Chris.  Swapping is fun(and sort of necessary) but the only way I really get to see the show is through the pictures posted here after the show.  I think I'm really going to try and spend the winter working on my own stuff and really enjoy all the shows next year with a car.....maybe even volunteer to help out.

My first time to the show was on the sunday, it was awesome. In one word... overstimulated.
Rolled back to the island ferry terminal in an imprompt cruise with fellow Victoria Volkswagen Club members. Next year I defenitly book for the whole 3 days.
