Well the year has started with some good and some not so. Let's get back to what this site is all about. A step away from the mundane. A place to feel like there is a reason for the 9-5 and the rat race.

What have you been working on all winter??

What and more importantly WHEN can we expect to see??

Come on people let us in on what you have been up to. Even if you don't want to reveal the pics. Give us something to snack on.

I will be on the road this summer without the paint job but slammed with rims and motor and interior.

Anyone else??

The 70 singlecab needs about 4 hours more welding and some gooping and it's ready to attack the roads for another few years :) . Not a restoration by any means but a whole lot more solid than the rot rod it was.
Should be driving by the end of the month, Just have to remember where I stashed the motor for \"just a few months\" (once you have kids those little projects take years) . No photos yet but it'll be around Langley/ White rock soon. Nothing fancy, just a patina driver.
Getting excited about parking the gas sucking Dodge van and having some fun getting around again.

Well it's looking like Waldo will be taking a back seat this year.  The Double Cab is going on the road.  I have varying motor options right now but the intention is type 4.  This year will likely be a 1600 type 1.  It's a rat look for this year with fresh drivetrain.  Slammed and I mean SLAMMED!!! rolling the beauty wheels and Safaris I picked up from AirSpeed, as well as several other accesories I've been collecting over recent years.  It's looking like the Shuswap has gone Bus Nuts.

Waldo will be sitting this year out. :(

Haha... dates just keep gettin pushed back!

still have to rotate turbo a bit and the intake is now further along.... need to figure out the cooling yet also, anyone know where to get some cheap alum rads ?  B)

bought this 64 sunroof in late october, spent about 1 1/2 months going over it and fixing/cleaning it up and now drive it daily.

plans are to build a lowered & narrowed beam, turn a few notches in the back and get some big & littles on the steelies before the summer so i can roll back the steel sunroof and cruise it to as many shows/cruises/hangouts as possible.

I'm about a month away from getting my grandma's oval back on the road.  I'm also thinking of selling everything else I have right down to the last nut and bolt(sorta) for super cheap this would include my 58 euro rag bug , my 60 van fake fuchs, and a 60'sroof rack.  I will just keep a few oval parts and the ghia part that I promised xcasper. Just a thought though.

Holy crap alot of people want the 58 Euro.  I must clarify that this is just a thought. What I am thinking  is to sell everything in a package for one price.

Should be a great year ahead... Sounds like a lot of cars being unveiled or just some that have been revamped:
Flossin's fleet
Hulky
Geoffy's hebert
GDog's long awaited 67
Lanny's turd
Cameron's monster motor
James' turbonium
Jim M's rebuilt motor madness
Some secret German look beast
Killer looking black vert
Couple Ovals being finished.
Can't forget turbo Timothy
Man the list just keeps going...

Vancity is gonna be on the map for killer Vdubs. This year should be awesome both at the show and especially at the track...

My 56 oval is painted and soon on its way back to the garage, bought all the motor bits and just need to get a tranny done and some riggid body mods,

Sending the Ghia off for paint in about two weeks, and have the tranny and motor done with the new front end and making the harness as we speak,

And sitting on my 54 oval rag for another year.......Or untill Rustybus sells all his stuff and takes my stuff?

And maybe getting the front end in the 59 single cab and getting the reductions off, When I get the money to get the straight axle kit off geoff!

And that should be it.......For winter at least

Might sell the 57 vert thou, Or start on the fricken thing it has only been ten years!

Who else has got stuff going on??

i'm with gavin!! great things coming in 2006
-i would like to see all these cars out for a drive at once instead of just parked at a show.
-i'm sure a good cruise route could be worked out ending at a  well hidden long section of road :D

thanks dan. that's the good side tho.  ;)  the other side is a little worse for wear.

lanny - the car is unfortunately parked outside. i'm going to drive it this winter and see how it/i fair. definately cant wait to cruise it throughout the summer.

i agree w/ gavin too. lots of very cool cars are being built/finished/debuted this year and it should make for an exciting time.

Hmmm, how about dropping the front end a bit, T3 rear brakes(widen the track a bit), discs up front(w. 145's) and a rank 2.3 liter.. 200HP on stock rims..Yeah! I have a VW Trends article from over 20 years ago that has a black 66 with that look. Sleeper.

Plans for the 56 to hit the street/track this year look promising. Drivetrain won't take too long to put together once the trans is back in my shop. All the little nit picky details is whats gonna take the time. The body should be painted by winters end, if I can keep my brother locked in his shop slaving away at it. ;)

i kind of started late, i got a 63 body from Sick-D-three
i am using my pan from my old 73 , replacing the floor pans, and frame head, and breaking down for a full air-ride kit, and all powdercoated.

the body is getting some minor touch ups, wider fenders, one piece windows and a brand new paint job. along with a new set of yellow and black racing seats, color matched rear seat. HID headlights.  Custom Diamond emblems.

Stock motor rebuild with dual carbs+ more free flowing exhaust

custom fiberglass subbox for 2 12's made by myself, a whole wack of speakers, and a motorized 7\" in dash flip up monitor.

and best of all.....

                                  :o 20\" wheels :o

most of it to be done by about 2 days before gcvws

it's great being 19, living at home with no expenses but a cell phone bill

but unfortunately come friday (today) i will be unemployed and back to school...which means i'm flat broke. so no big motor yet and i'll have to live with the stock drum brakes for now.

hopefully pre summer i'll have a few bucks to...
