i cut the heater outlets off the shroud, should i cut open the inside to let the flow through before closing it up?

Yes , I did this to one of mine after reading about it somewhere on line. I just cut about a 1\" x 2\" hole in that plate as close to the outer edge as possible. Something about bad turbulence if it remains completely close off. Plus you get that extra air blowing on the heads. Apparently the thing shrouds with no heater outlets are like this from the factory.  James .. can you comfirm this?

That's what I did on my shroud too, also trimmed a bit off the radius of the outer edge there so the choke block off plates on the carbs weren't touching it. Turned out good.
