Hans' Lucky Day.
« on: January 29, 2005, 03:52:05 AM »
No he didn't get laid (I think?).
Last week I was in at AS BSing with Dan when a call came in from a shop in N Van looking for some 4 bolt MOMO wheels.  Its a pretty rare wheel, and Hans has had one wheel for many years.  Its the one he always has at the swap meets with a note on it looking for more.
Turns out a late convert had a full set and was stolen.  The joy riders ran the car until they broke the wheels.  The shop was looking for 2 wheels.
A couple of days ago came word that the shop had given up looking, and that we could have the wheels for free!  Hans and I went over there yesterday and picked them up.  We even got the busted wheels, one of which can be repaired.   The shop was just around the corner from Scan Automotive, and we were greeted by a familiar face that hasn't been seen for many years.  It was Dana Craighead.  About 15 years ago he used to show his 51 split window Bug.
So now Hans has his full set and it only cost him a case of beer!  What a lucky score that was.
BTW, in case you are wondering, the big attraction to these wheels is that they are extremely light.  My guess is 10-11 lbs each.
