Seat Frames And Painting Or Powder Coating
« on: June 13, 2004, 01:50:43 PM »
Hey, just want to know what most people have done withtheir seat frames for restoration. I have blasted my frames and they are still bare metal, so i can choose powder coating or paint. Has anybody used Rainbow Powder Coating for their seats. If so what color did you choose out of his catalogues to be as correct as possible. Anyways let me know everything is appreciated.

Rob, Russ is our resident powder coater here.  He's a hardcore VW guy who works at a powder coating shop.  He know's how to mask parts for VWs.  You don't have to spend time trying to educate some non-VW guy why they can't paint certain areas.  I had some axle tubes done a couple of months ago and they were masked perfectly at the bearing bores and fulcrum end without having to say anything.
I have a friend who's going to be taking some seat frames into Russ this week, so you could get yours done at the same time with the same correct colour.

I would like to get on in on this, as I need my seat frames done too.
When are you taking them to Russ?

My friend is planning on later this week.

Changing colours is a bit extra work, so by getting them done all at once it might save Russ some effort.
