Help! Need Papers For 66 Bus
« on: June 11, 2004, 01:37:35 PM »
Hi Gang,
I thought I would post here and see if anybody could tell me the correct way to go about getting papers/title/registration for this 66 Bus I picked up.  The guy I got it from lost them and I don't think he was ever the registered owner.  He got it from some old guy many moons ago, and it sat in his yard for a looooonnngggg time.   I didn't even get a bill of sale, but I still could.  I've just about got the motor in and wouldn't mind being able to get this unit on the road for a bit this summer.
So....if anybody has been through this, can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Paul

Hey Heres  my story . Get the bill of sale even if it is just on a piece of paper. Then right down vehicles serial # behind drivers front seat and or in engine compatment bay . I bought my 57 same way . Go to ICBC ask about Last resort procedure .It cost me 28$. I talked to a very helpful ladie over the phone' I had to tell the story about no regis , just bill of sale , not knowing of any leins . Then they checked thier system and my van had no leins hadn,t been regi'd for 10 years and had been purged from ICBC's system . She made up new regis for me as being new owner and numbers put insurance on it and drove it. I didn't need inspection even because it was a BC vehicle .Hope this helps you the lady at ICBC was really helpful and wanted to see me get on the road again :P

Thanks man!  That sounds really easy.  What should the bill of sale say?  Both of our names, DL #s, price??  What do you think?  And, which ICBC agent did you go to?  I went to BCAA here in Vancouver the other day, but they didn't seem to have a clue about what to do....I think one of those old time local ones might be better eh.

Get the current owner to right his name and drivers liscence # and something along the lines of YOU paid $----- so much dollars for said van 1966 on june --- and he believes it to be free and clear but no longer has any regis for it . Ask by name for the last resort procedure or a # you can call your local autoplan dealer doesn't do this kinda thing that often but it can be done good luck
