Loss Of Power
« on: April 06, 2004, 09:43:39 AM »
I was driving down the hwy  in 3 gear and my car started to bog.  I reved up the rpm and put it into 4 and it stopped.  Also when I take off from first it feels like I have no power and have to ride the cluch to start going.  It doesn't happen all the time but it is getting more frequent.  I am thinking that it is my fuel pump but not totally sure.  Any ideas?

Check to see if everything is alright with you dizzy - leads, clamp mostly, something could be loose.

Could be the pump,,,my car was doing that. Ran great at idle and high RPM's but bogged down in the middle.
Found out it was the pump after going through everything..

I have a few fuel pumps kicking around if you want to give one a try.

I had a coil that was heating up and doing stuff like that to me. Then a big final bang and it was all over.

Today when I was driving I was in third gear and it was bogging so I just kept on cruising and about thirty sec later there was a few pops from the exhaust and it started to go.  It seems that if I stop the car after I drive it for a while then turn it off,  turn it on 10-15 minutes later it does this.  It almost sounds like there is back pressure or something.  Hmmmmm  [_[

When my carb was acting like that it was popping and sputtering and bogging.

If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

i had a similar problem, once it was the accelerater pump, and the other time it was my coil, maybe take a boo at those.
