Take a good look at it before you take it out.

The curved rubber tunnel at the back should be the same after you install the new one.

Make sure you grease it really good. Start from front to rear. Make sure you have 1/2\"-1\" play.

When you loosen the 2 M10 bolts that hold the pedals to the tunnel, the pedals will move off their stop and fall to the floor.  When this happens, the hook of the clutch shaft will slip out of the end of the clutch cable.  No big deal when you are removing the pedals, but when you are installing them, it means you will have to take them out again and put the cable on the hook.
If this is a car your buddy is gonna keep for many years, I recommend an upgrade.  I drill a 1/16\" hole through the tip of the hook and insert a cotter pin after the cable is on.  Then the cable can't come off.  I've heard of other guys using wire or rubber bands to hold things in place.
If you don't want to do such a mod, get a large, heavy enough object to place on the floor at the pedals to prevent them from falling while you are putting the bolts in.
Grease the hook.
