i was just wondering how come there isn't a local volkswagen club that anybody can join???

like the DVKK and dglvk are invite only and there is a strict criteria to be considered.  

We need one where we all gather once a month or every couple weeks to discuss VW's, where we don't have to have a race bug, but just any VW, where everyone is welcome From hippie to racer.

plus it would be nice to actually meet some of you people in person not through the computer screen..

well it was just a thought,

Sakk is like that. Not even really a car club and a ways out of your way. In fact we aren't even really called sakk it is just something stupid I came up with to make us look official. We meet almost never and a meeting involves whoever has the motor in their car that month (we all share one 1300 sp) to drive the others for slurpies. Kevin will soon be our leader with his turbo race car...... :blush:

You can join the Victoria Volkswagen Club. We meet the last monday of every month at the A&W on douglas. Everyone is welcome.

Or you could create your own club in Vancouver. Then you could be the president and rule with an Iron Fist.

I think Victoria has proven there is a need for an \"aircooled vw\" club here... Steve, talk to Kirin before he sells bert..I think Egspot would be in aswell

Car clubs suck. They seem to always end up attracting either the dweebs or the ones who are just there for the bickering. (You club members tell me I'm wrong).

I'm half kidding. It takes a certain group dynamic to make a club function well and really prosper, and most people just don't have it in them. Personally, I've never bothered with car clubs because in my mind all VW enthusiasts are part of a tribe, and that's good enough for me.

You want to meet and develop friendships with other enthusiasts?

1. Offer to help people on this board when they ask.
2. Go to shows and talk to car owners.
3. Hang around AirSpeed.

Hey guys,
Yes there kind of was another club kind of going on for a while. It still is \"unofficially\" here. Its name was/is Kaferkraft and basically it was really Laissez faire. Since I'm not selling my bert maybe we could have a bit of a resurrection meeting? How about the last saturday of this month at Krispy kreme and maybe we can try to band together to make this cruise a good one? Let me know guys...

I agree it does take a certian group dynamic for a car club to function. With that said, there are usually about 20 people who show up at our meetings every month and on the fall cruise I held, we had 27 cars show up.

When your at the meeting, people dont bicker, they dont try to stir the poverbial s**t pot. Its a peaceful atmospher where VW and non-VW related stuff gets talked about.

Actually car clubs do a lot of good as well. If it wasnt for the DVKK or DGLVK there would be no Great Canadian or Showdown ect. Ive met a lot of friends through car clubs. Even though its not my thing anymore I make it a point to go out and support them. Its a lot of work organizing a car show and the people who do it belong to the car clubs, so kudos to them.

YOu know what, Car clubs are a ton of work... But like Brian said without them would there be any shows??? I know Geoff does alot of work to keep the GCVW weekend here.. As does the rest of the DVKK as I have seen it first hand, I have been with the DGLVK since the start, Our club has seen many many changes in 3 years and it takes huge work to keep it going... Have I wanted to quit?... yes many times...
but you know what, I have met great friends because of DGLVK, past members included... Clubs are not for everyone... However if you have a love for VW's and just want to drive your car and meet people who love them as much as you do then I think a club will work here...
Just hold get togethers and dont be mad if everyone does not show, don't do a show, as there are 2 here already, just do the cruises, bar b q-s
etc.. You guys will have fun..

He's tryin' on his apron. I just told him that he has to wake up real early to setup for the breakfast at airspeed that day. He's not gonna get much sleep after a late night of friday night drag racing at mission.




From Shanes help with the chairs and tables that day to rental of other equipment. Airspeed and vdub clubs are makin'  it a VW community thing.
