hey guys, im new of course. im 15 and i bought my buggy in february and im just starting to really get into it. last night i just sawed out the old rusty floorpans and prepping the chassis (the fiberglassbody is off) and so on. im just wondering if you have any tips or ideas for the project. i just bought my engine from CIP and my heavy duty ZETO floor pans from Air Speed. i worked all summer full time to save the money. if you guys have any ideas for this project or any cool tricks that wont break the bank, please tell me.

thanks, Conrad B)

conrad, we're sorry, but forum policy is that no buggies be accepted to the board. i think you'll be pleasantly surprised with this (mostly) all buggy website & forum. click here. http://www.bugsnjugs.com

 ;) j/k buddy.

welcome to the wonderfull world of the airspeed forum. filled with intelligent guys and gals with one common interest. acvw's. you'll find a wealth of knowledge in the pages of these threads.

good score on the buggy. it will make a great first car cruiser. my advice. start reading. there is a ton of free information out there on the web. and to get ideas for your buggy, start flipping the pages of vw mags and searching for pics of buggies on the www. you'll see that alot of different mods can be done and you'll see what you like and what you dont. you'll adopt these looks and be able to create your own unique looking buggy.

remember. build the car that YOU want. not what others want.

that's sort of my wish list.....it'll take me a while to save up for that.....but ive already got my 1600cc engine from cip sitting on my bed with all of the stuff: crank, cam, conrods, etc... everything. my cylinder heads are okay but im just goin to get them rebuilded and i need to redo my generator, distributor and im redoing my carburetor right now. just knocked out the old floor pans like i said before and.....does anyone have a transparent distributor cap? i want to get one and a solid one just in case i dont like it. my buggy is goin to be yellow and black and chrome. i just got some seats off of my friend for a brick of bottle rockets haha such a good deal seeing as the seats are practically mint condish. umm what else? first and second gear doesnt work in the tranny, gotta crack it open and take a look. wheels are ancient i want some new ones. how do i get a soft top??

ill post more about it in a bit, ---Conrad---

if you get one of those you need the transparent spark plug wires to go with it. and the oil dipstick thats shaped like satans tail, and when your oil temp is high, the tail lights up. too cool.

j/k.

some friendly advice is to skip the transparent distributor cap. it wasnt cool in the 80's, and it sure as hell isnt cool now. ;)

Not really about cool factor, they just don't work well. There are a couple top notch upholstry guys here on the forum - Brian and Gary - talk to them about a soft-top.
