My New 67 Vert
« on: March 16, 2007, 07:51:14 AM »
After 10 long years, 30+ or so \"almost\" buys, I found \"the one\". A CHOICE 1967 vert with all the correct parts. All the \"shoulda coulda\" buys it was timing that paid off. A friend of mine picked this up in Texas for $3,000usd with the BRM's, built 3.88r&p Weddle mainshaft tranny, full Autometer gauges, Scat shifter, Grant steering wheel, correct 67' rear decklid, new brakes, new drop spindles, new tires and a narrowed beam with avis adjusters. So after some hounding, I picked it up for $4500 incl all new wood bows, and new top for it incl the padding. I AM looking for a 65-? convertible top mechanism so if anyone knows of one please let me know. This one is VERY rusty and most of the front is missing due to rust.

Here's how I picked her up.... (the car, not my wife lol)

And here's my new wheels that I've saved for whatever vert I picked up. Orig 4 1/2's and deep 6's with disk brakes and drop spindles.

Let's just say I'm like a kid in a candy store with this car!    I've since added my Empi GTV (Flat4) steering wheel, my new prototype shifter that will be available this spring (like a berg), new carpet, and trying like hell to finish my 1915 w/ NOS for it. Motor went 12.82 @ 103 running out of gas about 100ft before the stripe so she should haul arse in my vert especially with the nitrous. Maybe I'll be driving this up there this year!

Allright Matt! Looks great,of course -cos it's a 67 ! ;) BTW those 4.5 look terrible on there. Why don't you send them up to me!!! :D As for the top, get a hold of Chucks convertibles & do the exchange program ,it's the easiest way to go.
1967 Beetle (the only year worth considering)/Berg 5

No no no..... these are fine for now..  :P

As far as Chucks goes... he won't even tell me what year mechanisms fit my car and doesn't even have one that does fit my car, so I'm not really into shops/people who won't give me info on my car. But he's trying to find me a top regardless.

Hey G-Dog, hope you aren't mad when I come up with my blue 67' hardtop (blue/red int)  :D

hey matt...cool car and a great score.

i'm curious tho...if a 67 has euro bumpers and tailights, shouldnt it have early headlight buckets & front fenders? or are 67 verts different?

This is just an American car that's been Cal-Looked with the non-overrider bumpers.

Too much junk, not enough time. lol

It's in France now.

Now it's limited to my 67 hardtop, 67 vert and 65 Racecar. And looking at a 63 ragtop for the wife... shhhhhhh lol
