Glad the car is OK  :o I guess t hat why they call them portable wind and rain just getting to the interior but mild compared to what you guys got

I got a call at 2 pm today to tell me my costco 10x20 was in the alley!! and the car I had in it was now in the open :( I was home at noon just to check on things and all looked OK. I even had 16 12\" spikes (two in each post) holding it down and by 1:45 it was over the fence and into the alley. today sucks.

I must of seen at least 5 of those shelters just demolished today. To give you an idea about the strength of the wind I tried walking out on the White Rock pier and couldn't since the wind was soo damn strong!

Once the wind gets inside they just become parachutes.....  Hoping everyone made it though okay.  People, animals, and vehicles alike.

There's one of thoughs covering an old Land Rover at my parents place. The shelter is actually tied to the truck and so far it hasnt moved a cm.

Two weeks ago I came home to my Costco 10 x 20 shelter laying upside down on the neighbors roof...

I tied it down to the boat trailer with 4 pcs. of 1/4\" poly, so unless we get a tornado, I'm good. -_-

Crank, glad to hear you finally got your interior fixed. This wind is brutal though. Because of power outages my comute home took me an extra hour.

As I was cleaning up this mess I had a big smile on my face because the car was not in the tent. My daughter thought I was crazy...
Worst part is, I was planning on starting a new project. Either a bus or my 68 Notch. Now I have nowhere to get it started.

Red Snapper... as far as getting the interior fixed, I guess we shall see the quality of his work, or at least how well he does a VW. I have not seen it yet, but this week I get it back and will snap some pics.

The shelter I used for a few years had zero trouble with storms. It had a bit different constuction though, and nothing driven into the ground as it sat on my new concrete.

It had a bottom pipe on each side that all legs on that side was tied into rather securely. I then used some short maybe 3-4' pieces of 2x6 lumber scrap laid on these and arranged in a manner that when I drove my sis's vert into the shed , all 4 tyres sat on these 2x6s and they in turn went out at right angles to the car and rested on thr botton pipes of the structure. It had a 2500 pound  fat 'vert holding the tent down and it never moved.

but its NEVER driven in crappy weather, unlike some people's 'verts. :huh:


plus I did use some pier blocks that did hold it down in a pretty stiff breeze IF the car was gone.
