no doubt. :D

cool idea bruce...but imho...it would be more relevant to create a thread that includes only current pics (just not sure if the ones you posted are still around or not) of the current stock of barndoors (running or projects) around. and to make it even a little more interesting...

barndoors in canada...must be a current pic of a current barndoor in canada. must have vin intact (kind of rules out scrapped parts bd's...allthough i know a 10"x10" scrap of metal with a vin tag riveted to it doesnt constitute as a runner or project...so we'd have to rely of the posters discretion). can be running or project. kind of like a barndoor in canada registry. just an idea.

but for now...the only bd's i know of are...

on the island...

on the island...

and apparently there is another up north that's pretty beat up...no pics...

what's that...? ;D

sure thesamba.com has tons of info and pics of barndoors and they have a barndoor specific forum (even tho i have yet to find a barndoors in canada specific thread...maybe you could post it up if you have) and there allready is an official barndoor registry out there (http://www.barndoor.dk/)...

...wouldnt it be kinda cool if we had our own little compilation of known current barndoors in canada?

The pics are from about 20 years ago.  They are scans of prints from film.
The 55 was cut up.
The 54 is unknown.  Location is a mystery.  So is it's fate.

Now this is where you guys will cry.

This 54 panel below was also in the same barn.  This one's got no rust on it.  It only had slight damage under the side doors.
The two Buses were being stored in the barn.  The owner wanted them out.  The two guys in the pic told the owner they would take both buses.  First they took the rotten 55, only because it had the rear axle, making it easy to tow.  Their plan was to pull the trans from the 55 and return with it, then install it in the 54.
However, the next day when they returned, all the remaining cars were gone to the crusher.

In the side shot of the 54, you can see the barndoor gas tank.  Inside was also the rear press bumper.  Included was an ultra rare barndoor single cab rear press bumper.  On the rear shot you can just make out the shadow of where the Aristo-cast VW emblem was, on the right above the tail light.  The emblem was sitting inside the bus.  They didn't take any parts, because they were going to get it all the next day.

What about the old Mercury panel that was pulled from the Organic Mechanic. My friend bought this from him back in the late 90's and drug it back to Saskatoon. Later sold it to the states where it became famous. I just remember it having the "saddle style" roof. ;)

(++ I am just joking, I feel the need to put it here as the internet doesn't really show emotion....{{O)

I first found that one close to me right out in the Open 14 years ago but at that time it was stripped and sunk in a bog .I actually was looking for a house and saw it in the background of the photo tracked the house down and there it was in the back yard unbelievable  :D . Should have drug it home but full of Bullet holes and all the expensive parts missing and wasn't the big craze like now .Dissapeared one day I think I still know where it is nice to see someone do something with it . The nicest Barndoor I tried to buy but so did about 50 others was in Needles in the Slocan valley .A panel used for tv deliveries with low milage and a decent repaint ,I think it went to Cali for big Bucks .I always hope to find another but restoring them jumps in cost outta my league . I really should get started on mine anyways. Whoa I 'm rambling Done thanks for posting that pic
