Wanted 1972 Beetle
« on: March 07, 2004, 09:36:42 PM »
Hello all if anyone know the location of this car or the owner I would love to find and restore it. I grew up in this car. It was bought at Maguire Motors in Duncan, B.C. The serial #1122143589  model # 113141 with engine # AE606437. It was originally bright orange. I did a search but all they were allowed to tell me was it is painted red now and is now on the mainland and hasn't been registered for awhile. I am hoping it is still alive in someones backyard. Please help me thx.

I would think oxidized. All I have to go on is what they told me. Unfortunely because of the privacy act they would not give me a name. It was awhile ago that I found this out. I think she said it was in the Vancouver area. But not certain. Any help would be appreciated. Thx. :)

Well good luck to you on your search. Although I have to wonder, what happens if you find it and the new owners won't part with it?

Or what happens if you find it and it's a rust bucket?

Wouldn't it be more fun to get another bug and start the drama all over again?

Chances are it is rusty and sitting in someones backyard.  But all the same it would be cool to have and putter on for a few years. Can only hope that someone would understand it was important and sentimental to someone (namely me). I really don't know what to expect it could be a show car or a baja, or worst yet been turned into a dune buggy(nothing against dunebuggies).  :D

Did a check on Aircare.  Its not in there system, so it hasn't been driven for the last 12 years if its in the lower mainland.

Well if the car is originally from Duncan (thats on the island) it wouldn't need to go through aircare until it got to Vancouver. Hence it could have gotten there last year and be sitting in the garage and we'd never know.

Everyone that has evaded the aircare stranglehold has tried at least once.  How else would you know you need to find a loophole?  The 72 in question has never seen a testing stn since they started in Sep 92.

To get collector plates now you have to pass aircare once when you apply.  You are exempt thereafter.
