There are websites that allow you to plan a route that hits scenic sites/attractions etc...

Has anyone flat towed (tow-barred) a bug that kinda distance before?
I flat towed my '55 bug from Alberta to Quebec without problems.

I towed my 63 with a tow bar and Pathfinder from Oregon to Calgary last summer.  No problems.  When I came down to the GCVS, I towed my 70, again with the Pathfinde.  The only issue was the deep sump oil plug scraped every now and then and needed to be replaced when I returned home.

Latest reply ever....?

I'm in for cruise  for sure. You guys come up with some ideas over breakfest the other day?

I need a sticker to put on the back of my car to keep me motivated and working on it through the winter. I think the participation would be huge if we plan early!

Anyway, keep us posted as to the plans

We had a blast doing this a few years ago (I think 2000?) we had 5 cars there for the week. I drove straight thru (24hrs) but I think the others did it in two days. (much better)

There isn't a lot of VW shops on the way down if you take the 5. Pat in Oregon and L5 are near the 5.  CB Performance is over a hour East of the 5.

Once your in the LA area your in VW MECCA! Shops are far apart but it's cool to vist as many as you can.

If every one really wants to do this maybe we should think of renting a beach house for a week or two. The DVKK has talked about doing this for a while, It would be a blast living on the beach for a week during the Classic. Only problem is there is not much parking

We all stayed at the host hotel when we went, plenty of parking for the cars and tow vehicles. We even parked the Mo home there and camped for a few days B)

I hope everyone can make this happen, It would be great to have even more Canadian cars there next year.

When you price out a beach house with a group of people it can be fairly reasonable.
1500-a week for one that sleeps 8-10 people.

But your right there are lots of deals on Hotels and most may want their own place.

if you guys can take a break from talking about your asses for a second here...  [_[  :P

do we have dates for 2005 Classic? someone said a week before GCVWS, but is there anything more specific than that yet?

i'd love to do the coast again, but i'd have to start begging work for the time off now.
Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.
