Vw John Rip
« on: December 18, 2004, 03:38:06 PM »
I just received a call from Chris and Gina and they asked if I could let everyone know that John passed away this week. They will let everyone know when the funeral will be held.

It's sad when someone you know passes away, even worse when that person belongs to a comunity like ours. Most of us didn't know John well but we all saw him at the shows and always with a smile, he will be missed.

RIP John.

he will be missed very much so he was a great help to me in introducing me to this whole vw addiction, when I got my bus.  what a good man he was. we may all have had our ups and downs with him but hey he was a good man.  He is gone to a better place now.  may we all remeber him as VW john the guy who loved what he did and never held back on lifeor helping a friend out
the best to his family in this time of grief and morning

Wow ...I'm shocked...Is there any thing we can do as a vw community...He was allways there for parts or advice.  He was good at finding the diamond in the rough when it came to cars.  He will be missed.

Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but deep down I know that's not true. Some smaller countries are neutral.

First off, I don't want to sound like a cold hearted person, which I am not, but this is the only vehicle I know to contact the right people.  I knew John only from a few emails that I had with him on the purchase of VW parts from him.  He had an item on the Samba last fall, and I had contacted him on it.  He had the accident with the Thing and I told him to let me know when he felt up to finishing the transaction.  On the 6th he gave me all the information as to where to send the m.o. and I gave him the shipping info for the part (whaleTail)  The last email I had from him was 12/11 when he told me to send him a postal money order and he would send the item the next day.  I did send him the m.o. on the 17th.

Moving forward to this month after not hearing back from him or getting any email response, I contacted Everrett from the Samba and asked his advise.  He mentioned that maybe I would want to post on the Samba to see if anyone knew of John.  At that time I did receive back an answer to my thread from Billyisgr8 informing me of Johns passing.  I was shocked to hear about it as we had both mentioned that we were both 2 50+ year old kids with our VW toys.

I was advised to post here by James Buchan and that Gina may be able to help me with this deal.  If anyone here is able to put us in contact so we can decide on what to do, I would really appreciate.  I know how hard this can be having gone through the same thing with my father's passing.   He too was a man who knew many and we weren't familiar with his hobby deals.  He restored old outboards engines and such and we still aren't sure who belongs to what.

Again, my sympathy to his family and friends on the loss of what it seems was a really great guy.
