since the fine folks on the island always seem to make a dedicated effort to support the mainland shows...i think we should try & return the favour and go support their show!!! i know it's been a long time since i've been to a vf show...so i'm stoked on this one!!!

plus it looks like a great weekend of events in a spectacular location!!!

This is the official info for VF 2009. It will be updated as we update our plans, but this is the basic schedule.

Dates: July 11 and 12th
Events:
Saturday, July 11th - 9:00AM - 11:00AM: Pancake breakfast at Speedway Motors @ 3329 Douglas St. Pancakes, juice and Coffee provided free by the club.
Saturday, July 11th - 4:00PM - 7:00PM: Cruise to Francelli's for pre-show / show and shine. We will be meeting at Clover Point (click here for map) at 4:00PM and cruising up to Francelli's.
Sunday, July 12th - 8:30AM - 3:00PM: Main event. Judged show at Gyro Park (see map below).

Entry fee will be $15 per car and $20 for swap space.

Host Hotel:
Our official Host Hotel for this weekend is the Accent Inn on Cloverdale (see map below). Rate is $125/night for single or double occupancy. To get this rate, when booking, quote group number 5372. You must book 60 days in advance. Phone number for Reservations is 1-800-663-0298.

Directions to Accent Inn:
If you're coming in from the Ferries, just stay on that road as you enter Victoria. That is Blanshard. When you get to a cross street called Cloverdale, look to your left and you'll see the Accent Inn.

unfortunatly were not having a 'drag day' the track over here is under 1/8th

but none the less its a fun weekend with an awesome show location.

I am in. I am thinking about catching an early morning ferry on the Saturday. Book ahead of time and reserve?

Maybe meet at the Tsawassen Mc Ds for a healthy breakfast?

allright...let's get some ideas flowing!!

a caravan of vws coming over from the mainland would be sweet!! catching the 7am ferry on saturday july 11th should get us to the pancake breakfast (9am start) just in time. i just noticed that we needed to book at the host hotel 60 days in advance (so we missed out...unless the vvwc can swing us a deal on late reservations), so normal room rates seem to be around $150. after the show on sunday (show ends at 3pm) we could shoot for the 5pm, 6pm, or 7pm ferry depending on how everyone's feeling. reservations for the ferry would probably be a good idea considering the time of year (pay a little more, but guarunteed to get on)!!

so....

-who wants to catch a 7am ferry on saturday? we could also meet at the mcshits in tswassen and go from there (like jason mentioned)?

-who is into staying at the host hotel? or are there any other ideas for accomdation?

-anyone from the vvwc want to chime in about the possibility of still getting a reduced rate at the accent inn?

-any ideas for return times on sunday?

just tossing some ideas around so we can get some input from others and make a go of it.

Myself and some other low rolling friends may need to plan the ferry according to high tide for a better ferry loading experience, hahaha. Also, heading to Tofino after for some surfing, anyone else wanna join in on that?

I'd love to see a bunch of mainlanders over for the VF Weekend. It's gonna be a blast! (even thought there's no drag racing

) Oh, and I've driven onto the ferry at low tide with a Bug with 1.5" of clearance, so I don't think you'll have too much trouble. Enjoy the Island Breakfast on the ferry. It's my favourite part of any trip to the mainland.

Just in case any pre booked hotel... the current BCAA rate is cheaper at $105/nt. So if you have res under show rate I would call back and ask if you can get BCAA rate...
