i will give it a go,there is basically 2 types of rockers .the first type is the stock system this is where the adjuster is at the top of the rocker [ valve area] this system uses either a swivel/elephant foot type or the stock hardend tip to push onto the valve stem tip and at the other end is a socket for the pushrod to seat into . the second is where the adjuster is at the bottom of the rocker [pushrod area] this system uses a cup adjuster pushing directly onto the pushrod and at the other end a hardend curved shoe which makes contact with the valve stem tip.both systems do the same function in the end which is maintain a safe clearance too allow for expansion of metals.now the reason for the replacement of the stock adjuster screw to the swivel/elephant type is like this.if you take a ballpean hamer and useing the round end of it you strike the end of a 1\" metal rod enough times you will start too mushroom the end of the rod from repeated contact which in the end will render the rod unusable,so in the case of the swivel/elephant adjuster type .just think like the name emplies ,a elephant is a very heavy animal so its weight/load is spread across a larger area .so now the 8mm valve stem tip has a adjuster of equal size pushing directly onto its complete area.this equals a even load across the valve stem tip surface with a end result being no wear with a side bennifit of being quieter .
