Fs 66 Beetle
« on: October 30, 2005, 09:14:37 PM »
restored in 97ish for a raffle.  I bought it a year and a half ago for 3000 and sunk a new starter, new battery, gaskets for oil and exaust this spring, flat four roof rack.  Few dings but a great daily driver.
$2500 and you can stroe it at your house instead of mine for the winter.
OG 1300cc.

Why are you selling it? Sounds like a good bug. Just curious.

Its a great bug.  I just want to buy something else weather it be the single cab or a porsche powered vanagon in Ontario.  The thing has to be worth a wack load more than I'm asking.  Not like I need another car.  If you only new how bad the addiction was, hey I know I'll make a list of what I have

2005 kia spectra
1998 jeep TJ
1998 Neon (my sister drives it for lack of space in my driveway)
1993 Ford f-150-at a freinds
1988buick regal-in my back yard
1988 gmc 3/4 ton-at a freinds
1968 kombi parts bus(going to the wreckers-great shape)-in the alley
1966 beetle-on the street infront of my house
1962 double cab procject-in the garage
1959 beetle german look project-in the garage
1959 parts beetle (one of the bugs they took the doors off and chopped in half and riveted back together a foot shorter-don't ask me why)-at a freinds
1958 single cab (parts truck for my double cab-still sittin in the bush where I bought it
1956 beetle shortened (sold it a month ago)-gone from beside the house
I know I have a couple more around somewhere.
I admit I have a problem....LOL

Looks likea great car! Is there any rust on the body? Is it all steel, or was there any bondo used to repair it? Does it need any major work? And finally, if I were to buy it would it need anything major to make it safe/reliable to drive down to the south coast area?

I drive it around the city here but you have to drive a few hours to get to othe next city up here so I've never taken her out of town very far.  It prob make the trip.  I'd have a back up plan (i have a tow bar you could greyhound back to me) just incase.
No major rust.  This car was restorded in '97.  It does have a small hole in the panbelow the battery but Not bad.  this car was not treated like it should be and you can tell.  It's not a trailer queen but a cool daily driver.

When I bought this car from the PO he said it needed arc started once in a while.  I thought it might be the starter and alas it didn't fix the problem.  I figured it was the battery.  nope.  I took it to an auto electric place and they said my new starter had a 12V solinoid instead of a 6V. (thanx CIP).  I drove it for two days and then it didn't start again.  I live on a hill and my work laot is on a hill so I jump start it all the time. If I check the volts it at 5.5V always.  I put a 12 battery on the other side and if I use jumper cables and just tap the terminals it starts.  It's like the top end of the system won't put the currant through or something.  I read an artical on a ford solinoid fix.  Not too sure just thouggh I'd let some else deal with it over the winter instead of me.

HMMMM....Very interesting........I'll see what I can work out. I've towed 3 different beetles behind my Vanagon Diesel, but never very far. Probably wreck the clutch (or something else) if I tried it. Have to see if I can find a truck......

Well.... Just got back from my charming bus ride to the north. Bought the car but didn't drive it back this time (its COLD up there) but I'll go back in the spring for it. It's a beautiful car. I guess my UNrestored 66 will be up for sale soon if anyone's interested.
