5" Chop Top Roof Section & Doors
« on: February 24, 2004, 12:38:13 PM »
I have a roof section and pair of doors that came off my 1969 chop top Beetle. The car was built in the early '80's and was chopped 5" using 2 roofs. The rear window was left its original size. The car was eventually parted out and I rescued these pieces. I don't have photos of the doors but they are in good shape. They are bare with no glass or regulators. I do have templates for the windshield, door glass and quarter windows. The roof was properly stretched with 2 roof sections and the quarter windows were reshaped properly & turned out great. Most chop tops have terrible squared off quarters windows that look like crap. This roof has all the original round roof lines. The worst part is some one took a grinder and ground off half of the drip rail on the passenger side. Some one will have to either replace it or grind them all off completely for a smooth look. The roof also has some misc dents. I'm asking $500 CDN for everything. It's probably a whole lot easier grafting my roof to an existing car than trying to chop one from scratch. This roof is most suited to a 1965-1977 STD Beetle because of the thinner window posts. If you think you're serious, give me an e-mail. Everything is located in Abbotsford, B.C.
I've posted some photos of the car back in its day so you can see how it all looked.
Thanks, Jason   der-kafer@shaw.ca

The bug in the background is my wifes '66 - not for sale. I do have more close up photos available of the roof clip for those who are interested.
Thanks, Jason der-kafer@shaw.ca

For those who don't know, I shattered my right wrist just before Christmas. After 6 weeks in a cast, my wrist has fused itself to my arm - frozen solid. Probably at least another 2 months off work until I can get full movement back. Right now it's stiff, sore and swollen. Like the doctor said "when you're 70 years old you want to have a good wrist, not one that's screwed up because you didn't let it heal up properly when you were young." I couldn't agree more.
Jason.
