thanks to everyone for all of your help with my dumb newbie questions. im proud to say that after a bunch of money and time, my 67 beetle is now on the road and running strong. now its just the finishing touches to finish off, after i pay off all the parts i had to buy to get her to this point! im pretty pumped- i feel like i have tripled my knowledge of an engine in the past month from reading up and figuring stuff out. im sure i have tons more to learn and im looking forward to it! i will post some pics the first sunny day... even though shes pretty unfinished on the exterior.

thanks again to everyone for helping me out!

congrats tanner. time to enjoy it. and post some pics if you can so we can check it out.

just out of curiousity, how did you cure the slow cranking/no start/poor charge problems you were having?

if you could post how it was fixed in the original thread in the engine forum, it may help others in the future when it comes time to diagnose/fix related problems that they may experience.

cheers. ;)

Good to hear you are back on the road Tanner, Don't let a bad Veedub experience get you down, little issues like this will be a foggy memory shortly but the knowledge you gain from dealing with them lasts a lifetime and applies to more than just VW's.

go to your pictures at flickr, copy the address of the picture (something like flickr.com/pictures/tanman/picturename.jpg), then start a new message on the forum
press the button marked IMG on the post message page, then paste the address, then press the IMG button again
this will create an image code around the picture's address

do that for evey one of your photos and it should work

Tanner those are some very cool photo's.
I think you should name the untitled one \"never alone\".

Great to see you got the ride back on the road. You've inspired me to pull the cover off mine and see if I can get her ready for the soon to be over summer  :o
