If your car has all it's original bits the car interior is warmed by air warmed by some heat exchangers on the exhaust (see your manual for details). Often though, the heat exhchangers are removed and/or not replaced when damaged or corroded. Even if they're there, the system depends on leak free ducting into the rocker channels under the doors. If the channels are rusted out, the hot air escapes. If everything's working right, the car will warm up to a comfortable level within 10 minutes of driving.

There were also accessory heaters available (mounted in the front trunk) that burned gas from the fuel tank and blasted hot air into the interior. Ask me about it next time you're in the store and I'll go into more detail, or see http://www.type-14.com/Fiche/F%20-%20Heater/BN2.pdf

I loved the gas heater that was in my old bug and my 73 westy. Go out turn it on go back inside for a few minutes nice and warm when I'd go back out and no ice to scrap!

hey, i think im going to stick with the one piece windows for now, and maybe get new doors later to go back to original. if i do the one peice windows for now - what should i use to attach the rubber at the bottom of the windows? the clips only go about half way, and then i will have to cut the rubber to fit and glue it on somehow. is there some sort of body glue or somthing i can use?

For body glue. Use adehesive cement. 3Ms works great. As for the heat, make sure that the drivers side heater box isn't wired open because the cable is broken. Look under as someone opens and closes the heater flaps from inside. IT should all move

I'm thinking of mounting a CD player in the glovebox of my 66, so I don't have to cut the dash. Does anybody know if fibreglass gloveboxes are still available, or is there some other way of mounting the CD player? I can't imagine that the stock cardboard glovebox would be strong enough to hold a CD player.
