Cruise To The Classic 2005
« on: September 21, 2004, 08:04:36 AM »
Ok I figured someone might as well do it.

So everyone is already talking about the Classic next year, I personally have never been but would love to go. The big suggestion has been a cruise down to the show, maybe a round trip of about 10 days, see the sights, visit some of the VW shops in Cali. Do the show and cruise back!

So from those that have been, where should we stay, how long will it take, etc, etc.

And at the request of most people on this forum we would like to keep this on topic, blah blah blah.  I am up for that.

So Let's hear from you experienced travellers on the What Where Whens Whys and How the hell we are gonna do it's!

:)

we flew down for the first time this year so i can't offer driving experiance but the host hotel has been the Crown Plaza in Irvine (runs about $90 a night) but a great place since it is likea car show in the parking lot.
the classic festivities start thursday with the DKP cruise i believe, saturday is octo show as well as drag racing then sunday is the classic.not sure of how many shops are along the way but mabey someone else can pipe in here

I know some great places to camp on the way down for those interested. Pismo beach, and Huntington state campsite are both very nice. Huntington has clean showers and hook ups. If you dont want to camp both locations have cheap hotels near by.

Like Russ said, Crown Plaza is the place to be for the 3 days of the event.

The earlier this is planned the better for us cheap bastards - We've got enough airmiles for the whole trips hotel stays!

How about we all meet on October 10th (Sunday) at Ricky's on #10 in Cloverdale. Say around 9am.
Everyone bring some ideas on what you would like to do on the way down. (IE places to stay routes to take, time frame, places to stop at, etc.)

That should get the ball rolling, then we can set-up monthly meetings for progress and updates.

Thanks
Shane

Just wanted to let you guys know that we here at Franklin's would sure love to join you on your cruise down to the classic next year. However, we will not know if we are able to go till close to the last minute.

Also, If we are not able to join you we would love it if you stopped by here at the shop, we can fire up the grill and have a bbq. It would have to be on a Saturday or Sunday though when you stopped in.

Just a thought.

Watch for a squareback on the way up, it will be on your passenger side, in a field about 200 meters off the highway after keremeos.

Anyway back on topic, what is the plan for breakfast this coming weekend???

thanks for the invite. i'd love to come along and hang out but the trike needs rear inner wheel bearing race fluid and the caster on the front tire needs to be adjusted before i can take it on the highway. :P
