hey,
so i finally got my 2275 in the car and plumbed up, and i went to go try the starter to check to see if everything was tickedy-boo and, when i hit the button the starter would spin, but the motor wouldnt, so i figured it was the solonoid, so i took it out and bench tested it, and it works fine(its a brand new bosch 12v) so i put it back in and still no go, any ideas?

Check your wires running to the starter. I had the same problem and it was the lead wire. (not enough volts getting through)

Did you clearence your bellhousing enough?

checked all the wires, its getting lots of power

Crawl under there with a screwdriver and bridge the terminals and see what happens.

It is not engaging obviously. when you bench teasted was it coming out or just turning?

did the screwdriver test... no go
when i bench tested it, it came out and turned

If your starter is making a noise like its working but the engine is not turning you would hear a grinding when the starter tried to engage. Also check the starter bushing when your changing the starter... this will not cause the problem you are having but while your in there may be a good time to change it.

i've heard that the auto starters have more cranking power...they are also self supporting (but i'm sure that most ppl here knew that).

switched to an auto starter, everything works great now!

Many years ago I had a starter that worked really slow. I figured the battery was weak, and that the starter was on its way out. I pulled the starter and for some reason decided to change only the starter bushing. When I re-installed the same slow starter connected to the weak battery, it spun over really fast.
