How Much Are You Into Your Engines?
« on: May 05, 2005, 09:55:53 PM »
Just wondering if a few people could give me their engine size and how much they roughly have into it and maybe list a few mods or say if its stock or modified?

Trying to cover another aspect of the build and I need some starting points, thanks!

Fully detailed, with fresh heads and ansa exhaust ran me $500
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

I've got about $5000 worth of parts and machine work into my 1904cc. The big cost item were the Joe Aragona 42x37.5 ported heads. Berg crank, Scat rods, ceramic coated exhaust and other stuff adds up fast.

Probably about $3000ish  ,  1904cc ,  IDA's (bought new in about 1984) ,  4 tuned 1 5/8 header , berg 90.5's ,  used fk8 , erson 1.4 rockers ,  my own backyard shade tree heads , used welded 74 crank , magnum straight cuts ,new brazilian case , Oberg oil filter ,  009 dist with points etc, etc.  All this collected in the 80's and finally assembled in 2001.   I could not afford to build this motor today.

Ya , I'm that old and .....Ya , taxes are a bitch [_[

T4 power    1971cc $6500 cdn and very close to 120 hp

1600 turbo single port,   $700.00 and counting but will be under $1000.00 forsure I only need to buy bearings and a valve job, and some odds and ends.  Turbo is included.

hrmmm... not yet done but..

2.0L 16V, Megasquirt, custom ss intake/exhaust, intercooler(maybe)... lots of other little bits still coming together... estimating, 3grand on engine and turbo - to start with. Engine will eventually need an overhaul.

so yea lets say 3gs.

I'm afraid to add up bills... gawd...
