you need to adjust the position of the base of the shifter to allow for a full range of movement. Loosen the bolts a bit and move it a bit and see how it changes then adjust accordingly to find the fuill range of gears.

did you change your shift coupler and your shift bushing at the same time???
a new fancy shifter wont adjust worth a shit if you dont replace both when you put in a new shifter...

If you can find second, get it in there and with the bolts barely snug use a soft faced hammer or hammer/ block or wood and tap the base all the way back and to the drivers side, then tighten up and see if it shifts through all gears. It should be close at that point and a little adjustment from there is all it should need. like if it's hanging up on the gate going into second from first just tap it a bit to the pass side and try again.

good luck

how much resistance should i be expecting from the gates?

and there should be some leeway for my shifts right? ie: shifting into first i need to get it in exactly the right spot, but shouldnt i have a bigger gate?

not really following you, the gates are seaperating the gears, the shifter rides between them

when im shifting from gear to gear before i can get into the actual gear im getting a fairly big amount of resistance i have to push though. is that normal?

and when im shifting into first or second i have to be pin point accurate on the shift

I haven't ever shifted a dragfast before but i'm guessing it will feel tighter and more solid feeling than the old stocker. with the pinpoint thing though, ot sounds like you need to monkey with the baseplate adjustment more.

while driving or while parked? yes there can be resistance while parked, if your moving generally it should go in fairly easy.

the resistance is while driving and while parked, it does feel very soild shifting just takes some extra omph to shift to the next gear, more than stock anyways.

well they are a tight shifter, I used one in my car last year and it seemed somewhat aggressive, essentially if your hitting the right gear and its engaging fully and staying in gear I think you may be ok
